Charles R. “Charlie” Holmes

Charles R. “Charlie” Holmes, 70, of Cranberry Township passed away on Thursdaywhile under the care of Good Samaritan Hospice in Marshall Township.

Born Jan. 7, 1948, in Vallejo, Calif., he was the son of the late Mansfield Joseph Holmes and Patricia Rose DeVeau Holmes.

Charlie was Catholic by faith.

He served as a code cracker in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of the Butler American Legion Post 117.

He enjoyed fishing and golfing, and he was an avid reader.

Charlie will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

Charlie leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Patricia A. Menzer Holmes, whom he married on Sept. 20, 1997; his stepdaughter, Karyn Beaty of Cranberry Township; and his brothers, M. Joseph (Roberta) Holmes of New Jersey, William (Sandy) Holmes of Mississippi, and Thomas (Judy) Holmes of Rhode Island.
