Butler Township hires firm to create nonprofit to benefit Preston Park
Butler Township commissioners earlier this week hired a company to create a nonprofit organization to raise money for improvements to Preston Park.
Commissioners agreed to pay Righetti Ventures LLC of Sewickley $19,400 to develop fundraising plans and $6,278 to help create a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit board, which is tentatively being called the Friends of Preston Park.
Township manager Thomas Knights said the company will help identify government and foundation funding sources and assist with grant writing for a year.
The board will take over grant writing and funding source outreach after the contract expires.
Knights said the commissioners will appoint the board members, but the number of members hasn't been determined.
He said it will take three to six months for Righetti to create the board, he said.
Grants and donations received by the board will be used for site and capital improvement projects at the park, he said.
