Anthony R. Sassone

Anthony R. Sassone, 86, of Ave Maria, Fla., passed away Oct. 22 in Florida.

Born May 22, 1932, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late John and the late Ann Sassone.

A veteran of the Korean conflict, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was a civil engineer and an avid bowler.

Although he lived in other parts of the country, he never forgot his roots in Pittsburgh and always loved watching the Steelers, Pirates and Penquins.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Rose Savannah Sassone; four children, Dale Sassone of Florida, Terry Sassone and his wife, Terri, of California, Nicole Howenstine and her husband, Johnny, of California, and Natalie Fischer and her husband, Brady, of Montana; four grandchildren, Michael and Andrew Sassone and Marin and Marlee Howenstine; one great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Sassone; and a number of nieces and nephews.

SASSONE — A blessing service for Anthony R. Sassone, who died Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Cemetery in Butler.Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.For more information, please visit www.martinfh.net.
