Burned out license plate light leads to drug charges
Three men face drug charges — one for felony possession — after Butler police say they turned up suspected crack cocaine and prescription painkillers following a traffic stop last month.
Police on Monday charged Cody L. Holland, 24, and Timothy J. Kovocovsky, 52, both of Butler; and Devante D. Biggers, 22, of Columbus, Ohio,
Patrolman William Dobson was on patrol about 10:25 p.m. Oct. 17 in the area of South Chestnut Street near West Diamond Street when he noticed a car with a burned out license plate light.
The officer stopped the vehicle that Kovocovsky was driving, police said. Dobson recognized Holland, a front seat passenger, from a previous case just a week earlier.
Biggers who was riding in the back, according to court documents, appeared to be trying to hide a pill bottle under one of his feet. He eventually handed over the bottle that did not have a label on it.
All three occupants denied the bottle and its contents were theirs.
Police subsequently searched the men.
