60 people charged in statewide insurance fraud

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, pictured, is charging 60 Pennsylvanians for insurance fraud, including three people in Butler County.

Three people have been charged in Butler County for actions that occurred in the county as part of a statewide insurance fraud investigation announced Friday by Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro.

Criminal charges against 60 Pennsylvanians followed investigations by the Attorney General's Insurance Fraud Section, including 27 in Western Pennsylvania. Those charged in Butler County include: Christina Raquel Hansen, 41, of Conway, Pa.; Cindy L. Yoder, 43, of Louisville, Ohio, and Dirk E. McKinney, 46, of Louisville, Ohio.

“Insurance fraud is a serious crime that impacts consumers and policyholders across our Commonwealth,” Shapiro said in a news release. “We will aggressively prosecute anyone who breaks the law by providing false information to an insurance company. When people commit insurance fraud, it causes premiums to rise for the folks who do follow the rules. It's wrong, and we're taking action to stop it.”
