A Snapchat post threatening violence at the Moniteau School District landed a former student in trouble with the law, authorities said.

The post included a picture of six bullets standing up and the message, “Don't come to school tomorrow,” according to state police.

Moniteau officials notified police about 10:25 p.m. Thursday. Investigators subsequently traced the alleged threat to a 17-year-old Petrolia boy, who formerly attended Moniteau, Trooper Ron Kersten said this morning.

The boy, who police did not identify, is facing charges of terroristic threats and disorderly conduct in Butler County juvenile court.

Police allege the suspect sent the Snapchat message to approximately 30 students at Moniteau.

Investgators spoke to the boy and his parents but police did not discuss why the teen made the alleged threat.

Moniteau School Superintendent Sean Arney did not immediately return a telephone call this morning.

A woman at his office said the district was aware of the incident but that classes were not disrupted.She said the district would be posting information about the incident on its website.
