Tuff Tornado Run set for Oct. 21
The Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation is holding a Tuff Tornado Run fundraising event Oct. 21 from noon to 4 p.m. at Alameda Park.
Featuring a family fun run and obstacle course for children and adults, the event is being held to raise money for the Kids Weekend Backpack program, creative teaching grants and technology in the Butler School District. All levels of runners and walkers can participate in the two-mile run, which includes 18 obstacles. Activities include a basket raffle, 50/50 raffle, super hero and Star Wars characters, eight food trucks and a disc jockey. Children under 5 years old participate for free. Preregistration costs $15 for kids ages 5-13, $20 for people 13 and older and $50 for families with up to six people. People who preregister can pick up their packets Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Butler Senior High School. Registration on the day of the event costs $20, $25, and $55 respectively. The first 100 people to register receive a free hot dog and bottle of water. The vent will take place rain or shine. People can register at www.goldentornadoscholasticfoundation.org.
