Kathleen Byran Cress

Kathleen Byran Cress, 94, of Connoquenessing Township passed away Sunday while under the care of the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Born in Birkenhead, England, County Merseyside, she was the daughter of the late William F. Banton and Margaret I. Byran Banton.

Kathleen was a member of the Church of England.

She worked for the U.S. Army and was employed as a paramedic by Butler Ambulance Service for 12 years. She also worked as a medical assistant in the office of Dr. John Gollatz for 23 years.

Kathleen was a CPR instructor and taught dancing. She was a volunteer for the Special Olympics and served as a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader.

She was the former president and secretary of the Connoquenessing VFD.

She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, William B. Cress and his wife, Judy Cress, of Prospect, Sheila Smith and her husband, Wayne Smith, of Mars, and Fawn Kwok and her husband, Dr. Warren Kwok, of Germantown, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Cress, who passed away on Dec. 16, 1986; her brother, William B. Banton; and two sisters, Margaret Martin and Mary Patricia Greenshields.

CRESS — In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral for Kathleen Byran Cress, who died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018.Arrangements have been entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Connoquenessing, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in Kathleen's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
