Butler entrepreneur R.W. McDonald dies at 98

R.W. McDonald, a Butler entrepreneur for seven decades, has died at age 98.

R.W. McDonald, a Butler entrepreneur for seven decades, has died at age 98.

McDonald worked at the American Bantam plant where the first Jeep prototypes were made, before starting several successful businesses in Butler.

McDonald Heating became McDonald Heating and Plumbing, and finally R.W. McDonald and Sons, which remains in business today on North Main Street Extension and is run by his sons.

Over the years, he also owned McDonald Motors and RV Sales, Volkswood Sales and Service, the Volkswood and Pinehurst mobile home parks and the Clearview Flea Market. The latter is on the property of one of McDonald's former car dealerships.

McDonald is survived by a daughter and three sons.
