Rodney W. “Rippy” Kriess, 46, of Butler passed away unexpectedly Wednesday.

Born March 28, 1972, in Butler, to Ronald Kriess and Marcella “Sally” Weiland Kriess.

He was a 1990 graduate of Karns City High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves honorably serving his country for four years.

Currently he was working for Etzel Masonry where he was always one of the hardest workers of a crew. If asked to work 10 hours, he would push to work 12 hours to get the job completed.

He is survived by his daughter Kylee Kriess, whom he loved with every fiber of his being; his parents, Ronald and Marcella “Sally” Kriess; his very special aunt and uncle, Lou Ann “EA” and Phil Summerville; 11 brothers and sisters, Ronald (Debbie) Kriess Jr. of Freeport, Ronda (Randy) Black of Butler, Michel (Jon) Fiscus of Adamstown, Md., Robb (Anne) Kriess of Renfrew, Cindy (Tom) Harruff of Elwood City, Rick Kriess Sr. of Rimersburg, Rodger (Veronica) Kriess of Land O' Lake, Fla., Cristal (David) Elder of Butler, Dawn (Mike) Shunk of North Washington, Pa., Lori Kriess of New Port Richey, Fla., and Denise (Nick) Neff of Chicora; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his longtime girlfriend, Korie Thompson; one infant daughter, Rhiannon Kriess; one infant son, Logan Kriess; his maternal grandparents, Francis and Barbara Weiland; and his paternal grandparents, William and Gertrude Kriess.

KRIESS — Family and friends of Rodney W. “Rippy” Kriess, who died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E.
