Earl L. Phipps

Earl L. Phipps, 82, of Orchard Manor, formerly of Slippery Rock passed away July 30 at Orchard Manor.

Earl was born on Jan. 9, 1936, in Barkeyville, and was the son of Lon and June Adams Phipps.

Earl attended Wesley School and graduated from Grove City High School.

Earl married Shirley Campbell on May 9, 1959. She passed away March 22, 2015.

Earl served his country during the Korean conflict as a sharp shooter. Earl was discharged with the rank of corporal. He also earned the Good Conduct Medal.

He retired from Satec/Instron as a machinist.

Earl enjoyed building muzzleloaders, wood carving, hunting, fishing and boating.

Much of his post retirement life was devoted to caring for his wife Shirley, who struggled with multiple sclerosis.

Loved ones left to cherish Earl's memory are his children, Edward L. Phipps and his wife, Sandra, of Grove City, Brian E. Phipps of Florida, Eric T. Phipps of Prospect, Daryl B. Phipps and his wife, Joni, of Slippery Rock; his sister, Ruth Dummett of Grove City; his brother, Russell Phipps of California; his grandchildren, Helen Phipps and Scott Mack of Butler, Martin Phipps of Grove City, Wesley Phipps of Grove City, Austin Phipps of Florida, Connor Phipps of Florida, and Tyler Phipps of Slippery Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother-in-law, Jack Dummett.

PHIPPS — A memorial service for Earl L. Phipps, who died Monday, July 30, 2018, will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at Barkeyville United Methodist Church, 5420 Pittsburgh Road, Harrisville. Light refreshments will follow the service at the church.Larry E.
