Shirley M. Gibson, 89, of Prospect died Monday at her home in Prospect.

Shirley was born March 17, 1929, in Prospect, and was the daughter of Lower DeWolf and Ruth Hoffman Roxbury.

She was a homemaker and also had worked for Bryan School Bus Co. as a bus driver for many years. She also worked for the former Agway Seed Farm in Prospect.

Shirley was a 1947 graduate of Butler High School.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Prospect, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and vacation Bible school teacher, past elder and member of the church choir.

Shirley was a soloist for many weddings in the church and in the area.

She was a member of the Prospect Community Women's Club, past member of the former 20th Century Club and a past member of the Prospect Community Library Board.

She was an avid Florida “snowbirder.”

She had been a member of the Lads and Lassies Bowling League in Butler, Stoughton's Friday Night Ladies Golf League and the Lake Arthur Ladies Golf League.

Survivors include her husband, C. Dale Gibson, whom she married March 13, 1948; three sons, Patric L. Gibson of Sabastian, Fla., Daniel F. (Jodi) Gibson of Palm Coast, Fla., and Todd (Cyndie) Gibson of Prospect; two daughters, Cathleen (David) Johnson of Butler, and Suzanne (Leslie) Twentier of Cranesville, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene L. Roxbury; and one sister, Beverly L. Roxbury.

GIBSON — Visitation for Shirley M. Gibson, who died Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Jay Bryan Funeral Home, 443 Main St., Prospect.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Presbyterian Church of Prospect, 115 Church St., Prospect, with the Rev. Steve Cort officiating.Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Prospect.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Prospect or to Prospect Community Library in Shirley's name.
