Eileen E. (Michel) Slomer
Eileen E. (Michel) Slomer, 80, of Penn Township passed away on Tuesday following a brief illness.
Born Dec. 2, 1937, in Butler, Eileen was the daughter of the late Jerome and Eleanor (Graham) Michel.
She graduated from Butler High School in 1955, and the Butler County Memorial Hospital (BCMH) School of Nursing in 1958.
She worked in the BCMH operating room for four years before joining the surgical practice of Drs. Curtis Ruff and Robert McKee in 1962, where she spent 22 years. She also worked at the office of Dr. Paul Maust for 10 years.
Eileen was very proud of her nursing profession and served five terms as president of the BCMH Nurses Alumnae Association. She received the association's “Nurse of the Year” award in 1988.
Eileen was a longtime member of Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church.
She enjoyed reading, cooking and caring for her family and friends.
She was known well as the “neighborhood nurse” to the families on Meadowbrook and Hillcrest roads.
Eileen is survived by her husband of 60 years, Paul. The two were married at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler on June 21, 1957.
Eileen is also survived by two sons, Paul (Nicole) Slomer Jr. of Butler, and Eric Slomer of Pittsburgh; along with three grandchildren, Michael, Alexander and Julianna.
Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Rose Stepula of Seminole, Pa., and Ruth Ann Michel of Renfrew, Pa.; as well as her husband's brother, John (Dottie) Slomer of Butler. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald and Gary Michel; and her sister, Merilee Geibel.
SLOMER — In honor of her request, there will be no viewing or funeral service for Eileen E.
