Melba Jo Steele Noble

Melba Jo Steele Noble, 87, of Cabot passed away Saturday at Villages of Summerville in Summerville, S.C.

Born March 11, 1931, in Brent, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Dr. Robert Ezekiel Steele and Muggie Murphy Steele.

Melba was a life member of Freeport Chapter #179 of Eastern Star and had been active with the Rainbow Girls. Melba was a cousin to Audie Murphy, a World War II hero.

She is survived by her three daughters, Debra (Robert) Elwood of Summerville, S.C., Barbara (Douglas) Hartmann of Kemmerer, Wyo. and Sherry (Darrell) Filges of Butler; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Noble, her brother, the Rev. Willard Glover Steele and a sister, Lillian Leech.

NOBLE — Friends of Melba Jo Steele Noble, who died Aug. 4, 2018, will be received Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018 from noon to 2 p.m. at the FOX FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.
