Robert G. “Bob” Critchlow

Robert G. “Bob” Critchlow, 85, of Butler passed away at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Concordia Fox Chapel Memory Care Center from complications from Alzheimer's disease.

Bob was born on April 19, 1933, in Saxonburg, and was the son of the late Gillen and Lottie (Knoch) Critchlow, the oldest of five children.

He graduated from Winfield High School in 1951, where he was on the basketball team.

After high school, he served in the U.S. Army.

After his Army service, Bob married the former Constance Hildebrand on Sept. 29, 1956.

He graduated from Thiel College in 1960, with a degree in economics and business administration.

For the majority of his professional career, he worked in accounting at Nationwide Insurance in Butler. During his time at Nationwide, he enjoyed sports and playing on the softball and bowling teams. He retired from Nationwide in 1996.

He was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Butler.

His hobbies included raising show collies, hunting and studying the Old West. And he really liked ice cream.

Bob is survived by his wife, Connie; two sons, Robert D. Critchlow with his wife, Janice, of Broomfield, Colo., and Randall M. Critchlow of Cleveland, Ohio, with wife, Gabriele, and children, Eboni and Adarius; his daughter, Robin R. Critchlow of Butler; and his sisters, Catherine Hays, Beverly McCanch and her husband, George, and Shirley Beacom and her husband, LaVerne; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Miller.

CRITCHLOW — Friends of Robert G. “Bob” Critchlow, who died Saturday, July 28, 2018, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First English Lutheran Church with the Rev. Joel Benson of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.Burial will take place in Brownsdale cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Greater PA, Pittsburgh Office, 1100 Liberty Ave., Ste. 201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
