Darlene J. Freiters Schran

Darlene J. Freiters Schran, 82, of Seybertown Road, East Brady, passed away early Saturday morning at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.

Darlene was born June 27, 1936, in Tarentum. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Genevieve Hunter Ford.

She was a 1955 graduate of Karns City Fairview Township High School. She was of the Catholic faith.

Darlene enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing computer games, and having a fish sandwich at McDonald's and chili at Valley Dairy. In her earlier years she enjoyed bowling, camping and traveling.

She had been employed for more than 20 years at Moonlight Mushroom in Worthington.

Darlene was first married July 8, 1955, in Chicora to Henry W. Freiters Jr. Mr. Freiters preceded her in death in 1997.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Milton Schran, whom she married Aug. 14, 2004, in Karns City.

Also surviving are seven children, Shelly L. Dinus and her husband, Mark, of East Brady, Robert W. Freiters and his wife, Donna, Margaret M. Freiters and her husband, Scott Whitmer, all of Fairview, Beverly A. Heeter and her husband, Edward Jr., of Florida, Richard W. Freiters and his wife, Melissa, of Petrolia, Melissa S. Bowser and her husband, Barry, of Bruin, and Darlene J. Cousins and her husband, Keith, of Karns City; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Ford and his wife, Darlene, of Karns City and Charles Ford and his wife, Rachel, of Garland, Texas; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

SCHRAN — Friend of Darlene J. Freiters Schran, who died Saturday, July 28, 2018, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Barger, pastor of Scrubgrass Stone Church, Emlenton officiating.
