Leroy G. Hill IV, 26, of New Castle was riding his motorcycle southbound on Route 19 and slowed to turn into a business when he was hit by a car from behind and thrown from his bike.

LANCASTER TWP — Police have released the name of a motorcyclist killed Thursday in a two vehicle crash on Route 19.

Leroy G. Hill IV, 26, of New Castle was riding his motorcycle southbound on Route 19 and slowed to turn into a business when he was hit by a car from behind and thrown from his bike.

Hill was not wearing a helmet, and township police said he likely died on impact at around 1:30 p.m. The driver of the car was Nicholas Abbott Jr., also 26, of Slippery Rock.

No charges have been filed against Abbott pending further investigation.

Emergency responders closed Route 19 from West Lancaster Road to Pfeifer Road while township and state police investigated the cause of the crash and cleared the scene.

The road reopened at around 5:30 p.m.
