Edna L. Reimers
Edna L. Reimers, 93, of Slippery Rock passed away Sunday at the Butler VNA Hospice Facility after a brief illness.
She was born June 1, 1925, in Marion Township, to George P. and Erma Cokeane Kohlmeyer.
Edna graduated from high school and entered nursing school at the Bashline nurses training program. She became a registered nurse and worked within that hospital system her entire career.
Edna met John C. Reimers Jr. in 1945, and they married March 15, 1946, in Grove City. They enjoyed 68 wonderful years of marriage until John died in January of 2014. Their children are John (Gladys) Reimers of Edinburg, Pa., David (Loretta) Reimers of Grove City and Kathy Reimers Cratty of Slippery Rock.
She was a terrific grandmother of nine, John (Jane) Scott, Stacey Reimers, David B. Reimers, TJ and the late Marcy Jo Dallas, Jeffery (Piper), Steven (Melissa) and James (Christi) Cratty and Colleen Withers.
Additionally, she had 16 great-grandchildren, who loved her too.
She particularly enjoyed being a member of the Ladies Golf League in Slippery Rock and the hospital's alumni association. John and Edna were long time members of the Wolf Creek Presbyterian Church.
She did enjoy watching golf and other Pittsburgh sports on TV. Her legacy of hard work, no complaining and being grateful for her family has left an indelible mark on her family.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Esther; her son-in-law, Donald Cratty; her granddaughter, Mary Jo; and several nephews and nieces.
REIMERS — Visitation of Edna L. Reimers, who died Sunday, July 15, 2018, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, with a one-hour visitation beforehand at the funeral home with Rev. Diane Whitman officiating. Interment will follow at Clintonville Cemetery in Clintonville.Memorials may be given to Benbrook VNA Hospice, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001.
