Construction on the Lancaster Township's Four Springs Park project may soon be underway as the township begins looking for bids for work on the first phase of the project.

Construction on Lancaster Township’s Four Springs Park project may soon be under way, as the township has begun looking for bids for the first phase of the project.

Planning for the park, situated at the corner of West Lancaster Road and Route 19, has been ongoing for years. The park master plan was approved in July 2015.

“I think everyone’s incredibly excited about the park,” said Benjamin Kramer, township manager.

Phase One of the Four Springs Park Master Plan involves constructing a one-mile walking trail, an entrance way into the park, parking facilities, stormwater management systems and more.

The township is currently accepting bids.

This phase of the project was made possible by a $300,000 Community Conservation and Partnerships Program, or C2P2, grant. The grant requires a 50 percent match by the township.

Kramer said all of the grant money will be used for the first phase. The grant funds must be spent by the end of 2020.

In total, the project will be comprised of six phases, though some could be consolidated “going with the guidance of the master site plan,” Kramer said.
