Catherine E. “Kate” Deemer
Catherine E. “Kate” Deemer, 90, of Zelienople passed away on Tuesday while under the care of Lawrence County Geri-Care in New Castle.
Born Feb. 21, 1928, in Zelienople, she was the daughter of the late Samuel N. Zinkham and Beulah Mae Piper Zinkham.
Kate was a life member of St. Peter's Reformed Church.
She was a 1946 graduate of Zelienople High School.
She had worked at Keystone Bakery in Bridgewater, and as a cashier at Streamline Market and Bloom Shoe Store in Zelienople.
Kate was a Girl Scout leader and a member of several clubs, including the Harmony Community Club, the Card Club, the Bingo Club and the Harmony VFC Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed square dancing and traveling all over the country.
Kate will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
Kate leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Kathie (Rex) Brown of Harmony, Lynn Bungar of New Castle, and Kenneth L. (Becky) Deemer; eight grandchildren, Heather (Robert) Sparr, Mollie (Kevin) McCormick, Mandi (Jason) Meyer, William Morrison III, Tiffani (George) Prest, Heidi Marciante, Kenneth (Michelle) Deemer Jr., and Ryan Deemer; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Thomas (Terri) Zinkham of Zelienople; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oran Leroy Deemer, whom she married on Aug. 16, 1947, at Oak Grove Church; and a brother, Sam Zinkham.
DEEMER — Friends of Catherine E. “Kate” Deemer, who died Tuesday, July 3, 2018, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral service to celebrate Kate's life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter's Reformed Church, 320 E.
