R. Leona “Onie” Beer
R. Leona “Onie” Beer, 86, of Buffalo Township, passed away peacefully Friday while in the company of family at her home.
Leona was born May 6, 1932, in Parker, a daughter of the late Myrtle Sloan Steele and Howard A. Steele.
Leona was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Natrona Heights. As a young adult she worked hand in hand with her husband leading the teen group in their local church. She enjoyed singing with friends and family in churches throughout the area.
Along with her husband, she owned and operated Dynamic Ceramics in Sarver for 38 years. Leona loved traveling in her motorhome, gardening, sewing and craftwork, and she crocheted hats for cancer patients through Handmade Hope of Western Pa.
Leona is survived by her husband of 63 years, Darl L. “Dutch” “Shorty” Beer; her son, Terry (Jeannette) Beer of Buffalo Township; and two daughters, Darla (George) McWilliams of Buffalo Township and Melanie (Thomas) Waddell of South Buffalo Township.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Melissa (Zach), Justin (Heidi), Amanda, Michael (Micaela), Matthew (Rebekah), Aaron (Kayla), Jerrica (Misael), David (Debbie) and Tia Waddell.; and her great-grandchildren, Sarah, Hunter, GiGi, Dessie, Isaac, Hallie, Julian, Lilah, Aaron Jr., Asa and Alistar.
The family offers special thanks to Dana Kunkle and Beth Bowser, who loved her and cared for her personal needs.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her four sisters.

Leona “Onie” Beer, who died Friday, June 29, 2018, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport.Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Harvest Baptist Church. 224 Harvest Lane, Natrona Heights, with Pastor Marc Likins officiating.
