Earl Jernigan

Earl Jernigan, 77, of Butler died Tuesday at his residence after an illness.

He was born June 1, 1941, in Rockingham, N.C., and was the son of Emmett and Alice Gibson Jernigan.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Air Force.

He had worked for SunCruz Casinos as a deckhand.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Dreyer Jernigan, whom he married on Dec. 27, 1996; two sons, Lance Earl Jernigan of New Mexico, and Michael Jernigan of Texas; one stepson, Joe (Jen) Rakoci of Butler; one stepdaughter, Julie McCurdy of Butler; one sister, Barbara Levy of Florida; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Earl was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

JERNIGAN — Visitation for Earl Jernigan, who died Tuesday, June 12, 2018, will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Jay Bryan Funeral Home, 443 Main St., Prospect.Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans X Programs at the VA Butler Healthcare Center in Butler.
