John Lee Patten
Devoted and beloved husband, father and grandfather, John Lee Patten, 74, of Albion, passed away suddenly due to natural causes on Sunday.
He was born Jan. 15, 1944, in Albion, and was a son of the late Glendon and Leora Pearl (Corbett) Patten.
John graduated from Northwestern High School in 1962.
He worked for Rogers Brothers in Albion and then retired from the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Albion, the Masonic Lodge in Albion, and the Conneaut OH Boat Club.
John loved being outdoors, whether it was at his hunting camp in Cherry Grove, or his cottage on Lake Erie.
He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
John always made his family his number one priority and he never missed an event that his grandson was participating in.
Although he is gone, John is leaving behind a legacy of hard work, integrity and honesty.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janice (Moon) Patten, whom he married Oct. 23, 1976; a daughter, Jennifer Patten-Rudolph and her husband, Nicholas, of Meadville; a grandson, Aiden Rudolph; four siblings, Esther Swift of Edinboro, Ruth McBeth of Girard, Glenn Patten and his wife, Marion, of Conneaut, Ohio, and Ann Adamson and her husband, Denny, of Albion; a brother-in-law, Jess Erickson of Girard; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Merryman of Erie, and Barbara Elaine Nardo and her husband, Sam, of Erie; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Erickson.
PATTEN — Calling hours for John Lee Patten, who died Sunday, June 10, 2018. will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday at the Mattera Funeral Home, 188 E. State St., Albion.
