Gayle Eileen (Rickert) Howard
Gayle Eileen (Rickert) Howard, 74, of Harrisburg passed away May 21 after an extended illness.
Gayle was the daughter of the late William Rickert and the late Floyde Williams of Altoona, Pa. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Charlie Duncan; and her stepbrother, Jerry Duncan.
She graduated from Knoch High School in 1961 and attended Allegheny College as an art major, before later completing her studies at Penn State in Harrisburg.
After raising her children, she worked as a technical librarian at Commonwealth Bank and as a technical writer for various government subcontractors. She then worked until retirement as a management analyst for the Commonwealth Department of Public Welfare.
Her interests included art, organic gardening, environmentalism and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Gayle was forever warm and caring, always putting her concern for others before herself. She will be lovingly remembered by the many people whom she touched and influenced.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynn Howard of Edgewater, Md.; a son, Boyd (Melissa) Howard of Camp Hill, Pa.; her grandchildren, Carys and Rowan; and a host of extended family and friends.
