SUMMIT TWP — This was not a typical hit-and-run crash.

The suspended driver, state police said, left behind two injured children — including one of her own — after fleeing the scene of the rollover wreck Monday in Summit Township.

The youths, both girls, needed hospital treatment.

Police on Wednesday arrested Billie Jo Henry, 43, of Clearfield Township, who was arraigned on two counts of child endangerment, accidents involving injury and accidents involving injury while not property licensed.

She also was cited for seven traffic violations.

She was placed in Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail following arraignment.

Police said they learned about the crash on Route 356 at Headland Road after they were called to Butler Memorial Hospital for a report of two girls there with injuries that were believed to be minor.

The girls told police that Henry was westbound on Headland Road and crossed over Route 356, traveling down an embankment and rolling over several times, according to court documents.

One of the children, Henry's daughter, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out the back window. She suffered facial and arm injuries.

The other girl injured her back. She called her mother, who drove to the scene and took the girls to the hospital.

Investigators believe the defendant was aware of the children's injuries, documents said, but fled before police got there.

She is accused of failing to contact police or any first responders. She also did not contact the hospital to check on her daughter.

Police said they later tried to call Henry and went to her home but they could not find her.

Troopers in checking the defendant's driving record found that her license is suspended.

She was booked into the prison at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Online records did not indicate if Henry has an attorney.
