EVANS CITY — Borough police arrested a Butler man Friday after officers stopped him for headlight issues and reported seeing bags of heroin in his car.

Jeremy Besong, 32, of Butler has pleaded guilty to drug possession and driving with a suspended license, according to court documents.

Officers stopped Besong in the borough Friday for a headlight that was out.

Arresting officer Brian Mazzanti informed Besong why he was stopped and observed two heroin bags, one full and one empty, in a bag beside the drivers seat, documents state.

Mazzanti ran Besong’s information and found his license had been suspended due to a DUI, and he had two warrants out of Beaver County, documents state.

Mazzanti called for backup and arrested Besong, informing him of the warrants.

Besong denied that there was anything illegal in his vehicle but later admitted “there probably is” when officers advised they had seen the heroin bags, documents state.

Besong pleaded guilty to drug possession and driving with a suspended license. Charges of drug use and driving without headlights were withdrawn, according to court documents.
