ZELIENOPLE — A Zelienople man faces charges after allegedly raping a woman in May of last year.

Tyler Herrmann, 24, of Zelienople is charged with rape, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault. Jackson Township police filed the charges Tuesday.

Officers were dispatched to UPMC Passavant Cranberry on May 7, 2017, to interview a woman who said she was victim of sexual assault, documents state. Arresting officer Michael Murcko interviewed the victim, who told him she was raped by Herrmann after hanging out with friends on the evening of May 5 and into May 6.

During the ensuing investigation, the victim consented to a wiretap conversation with Herrmann conducted by Murcko, Det. David Aldridge of the Butler County District Attorney's Office and Tpr. Max DeLuca of the Pennsylvania State Police Butler Crime Unit, documents state.

“During the consensual wiretap, Herrmann makes an admission and then apologizes for the events of that night,” documents state.
