Police blame rain in I-79 rollover crash
No injuries were reported in a rollover crash on Interstate 79 Saturday.
MUDDYCREEK TWP. — No injuries were reported in a rollover crash that police say was caused by rainy conditions Saturday on Interstate 79.
The crash occurred shortly after 1:20 p.m. at mile-marker 98.6 south, near the road's Butler/New Castle exit.
State police on the scene said the cause of the crash was rainy conditions, as the driver hydroplaned and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then crossed the other southbound lane, hit an embankment and rolled several times before coming to rest on its tires.
The vehicle was towed and police said the driver would be cited for driving too fast for conditions.
No further information was available at the scene.
