Walter C. Johnson

Walter C. Johnson

Walter C. Johnson, 68, of Butler passed away Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born May 26, 1949, in Butler, he was the son of the late Joseph E. Johnson and Helen I. Noble Johnson.

Walt was a 1967 graduate of Knoch High School and a 1971 graduate of Penn State University with a degree in accounting. He retired from Armstrong Group of Companies as an accountant after 40 years.

In his retirement, he enjoyed his Tuesday golf game with cousin, Dan Roenigk, and his Thursday evenings with his friend, Jim Krenicky.

He also enjoyed being a volunteer at Preston Park on Monday mornings. Walt also enjoyed the KHS Class of 1967 monthly lunches and getting to chat with his classmates.

Family heritage was always most important to Walt and he spent three years researching his family's genealogy. He loved spending time with his family. He was proud to witness his nephew, Dillion's, graduation on May 4 from Penn State University.

His love of animals was demonstrated with his volunteering for several animal groups throughout his lifetime. He loved his cats, Buddy, Smokey and Missy.

As a member of Zion United Methodist Church, he served actively on the financial board for many years.

Walter was given the gift of life, receiving a kidney transplant 27 years ago and a pancreas transplant 14 years ago. We will always be indebted to the families that blessed him with those organs.

Surviving are his loving wife, Colleen; his brother, Ed (Carol) Johnson, of Cabot and their children, Greg (Denice) Johnson of Cleveland and Jennifer (Rick) Lawrence of Port Matilda and their children, Josie and Ella Johnson and Lilly, Olivia and Jackson Lawrence.

Also surviving are Colleen's brother, Tony (Danna) Burke; and sister, Amy (Charlie) Holben and their children, Nikita and Collin Burke and Tiffany (Seth) Bandi, Dillion Holben and Madison Holben; and their great-nephews, Wyatt and Lane Bandi.
