Joan C. Kearney

Joan C. Kearney, 67, of Harrisville passed away peacefully at home Sunday afternoon following an illness she had since March.

Joan was born July 4, 1950, to Franklin M. and Martha R. (Dinsmore) Miller.

She married Anthony W. “Tony” Kearney on Nov. 3, 1973. He survives at home.

She was a graduate of Slippery Rock High School and received a BSN from Clarion University.

Joan was a registered nurse for many years at UPMC Northwest in Franklin. She had previously worked in pediatrics at Franklin Hospital.

Joan was a longtime member of United Methodist Church in Harrisville, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, was on the Hospitality Committee, the Care Team, Blanket Ministries, Bible school and with the Pastor Parrish Relations Committee.

In addition to her husband, Tony, she is survived by five children, Michael Kearney of Harrisville, Heather Kearney of Winston-Salem, N.C., Joshua Kearney of Pittsburgh, Kaylen Bixler and her husband, Rick, of Harrisville, and Patrick Kearney of Mercer; six grandchildren; and a brother, Garry L. Miller of Mercer.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald F. and Ronald E. Miller.

KEARNEY — A memorial service for Joan C. Kearney, who died Sunday, May 6, 2018, will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday in United Methodist Church, 301 S. Main St., Harrisville, with the Rev. Jeffrey Canter and the Rev.
