Masked man call ends with drug-related charge
A Penn Township man faces a hearing in July on charges he had empty stamp bags of heroin in Butler.
City police found 39-year-old Nathan J. Vanderzee about 8:30 a.m. May 16 after being called to an Elm Street home for a man on the porch with a knife and wearing a Captain America mask.
When officers got there, according to court documents, Vanderzee did not have the knife. Police subsequently conducted a pat-down search for weapons.
They found no weapons, police said, but turned up several empty glassine bags of suspected heroin in a back pants pocket.
Police on May 22 charged Vanderzee with a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. His preliminary hearing is set for July 30.
