Helen J. Fend
Helen J. Fend, 86, of Butler passed away Saturday at the St. John Specialty Care Center.
She was born Aug. 27, 1931, in Butler, and was the daughter of the late Thomas Crawford and the late Helen Schroebel Crawford.
Helen worked for G.C. Murphy Company and Brose's Market. She was also a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the South Butler Fire Hall Ladies Auxiliary.
Helen enjoyed chaperoning for the General Vagabonds Drum and Bugle Corps. She also enjoyed knitting, baking, sewing, bingo and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her three sons, Keith Fend and his wife Joanne, of Butler, David Fend of Butler, and Brian Fend and his wife, Elena, of Butler; four grandchildren, Garrett Fend and his wife, Cristen, Amy Fend, Devin Savage and her husband, Michael, and Lauren Fend; four great-grandchildren, Haylee, Mckenzie, Bernadette and Robert “Bobby”; two sisters, Marie Miller of Butler, and Joyce Norman and her husband Wesley of Tampa, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Fend, whom she married on Jan. 14, 1952, and who passed away on Aug. 11, 2001; one sister; and four brothers.

Fend, who died Saturday, April 14, 2018.Private funeral services were held at the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Butler County Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.Burial took place in the Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to South Butler Firemen, Attn: Ladies Auxiliary, P.O.
