SRU baseball bounced from PSAC playoffs

Bloomsburg plated a run in the bottom of the ninth inning, eliminating Slippery Rock University’s baseball team from the PSAC Tournament with a 5-4 decision at Point Stadium in Johnstown on Friday.

SRU reliever Wyatt Daugherty was an out away from getting out of the inning before surrendering an RBI-double to Nate Krizan.

The Rock trailed the Huskies 4-3 before Christian Porterfield doubled home Tyler Walters to tie the game in the top of the sixth inning.

Porterfield, who went 3-for-4 in the game, belted a 3-run home run in the first frame.

Walters was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Ryan Tapp started on the mound for SRU. He allowed four runs on four hits while striking out five and walking three in six innings.

The Rock (30-19) now waits to see if it will earn an at-large bid to the Atlantic Regional Tournament.

That decision will be made Sunday.
