BUTLER TWP — New, current, and retired Pennsylvania State Police troopers gathered on the hill at the Troop D Barracks Wednesday morning, for State Police Day.

State Police Day serves not only as a celebration of the department's founding in 1905 — when PSP became one of the first of it's kind — but also as a day of remembrance for troopers who died in the line of duty.

Commanding Officer of Troop D, Captain Steve Ignatz, addressed the crowd to celebrate the department's 113th anniversary.

“Every year at this time we remember all the troopers who have died int he line of duty,” said Ignatz, while addressing the crowd.

“And we pray their names are the last.”
