Let the NFL draft commence
This may be an NFL Draft unlike any other.
Quarterback is always a premium position. Everyone is looking for the next face of the franchise and there may be four of them taken in the first five picks.
Let’s see where they land in my annual NFL Mock Draft:
1. Browns — Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming. Doesn’t it seem like Cleveland is taking a quarterback every season? That’s because they are. The Browns have taken 10 signal callers since coming back into the league in 1999 and four in the first round.
Make that 11 and five.
2. (TRADE) Bills — Sam Darnold, QB, USC— The Bills are thirsty for their first real franchise QB since Jim Kelly, so they’ll make this trade with the Giants happen.
3. Jets — Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA.
4. Browns — Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State.Browns fans will froth at the mouth with giddiness after getting a franchise QB and a stud RB in one draft.
5. Broncos — Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma.
6. Colts — Quentin Nelson, G, Notre Dame.
7. Buccaneers — Bradley Chubb, DE, N.C. State.
8. Bears — Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State.
9. 49ers — Roquan Smith, OLB, Georgia.
10. Raiders — Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB, Alabama.
11. Dolphins — Derwin James, S, Florida State.
12. Giants (from Bills) — Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville. Eli isn’t getting any younger.
13. Redskins — Vita Vea, DT, Washington. Redskins win for selecting the best name in the draft.
14. Packers — Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Virginia Tech.
15. Cardinals — D.J. Moore, WR, Maryland. Larry Fitzgerald isn’t getting any younger, either.
16. Ravens — Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama.
17. Chargers — Da’Ron Payne, DT, Alabama.
18. Seahawks — Josh Jackson, CB, Iowa.
19. Cowboys — Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU. Have to replace Dez.
20. Lions — Maurice Hurst, DT, Michigan.
21. Bengals — Harold Landry, DE, Boston College.
22. Giants (from Bills) — Frank Ragnow, C, Arkansas
23. Patriots — Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame.
24. Panthers — Jaire Alexander, CB, Louisville.
25. Titans — Leighton Vander Esch, ILB, Boise State.
26. Falcons — Taven Bryant, DT, Florida.
27. Saints — Will Hernandez, G, UTEP.
28. Steelers — Rashaan Evans, ILB, Alabama. With the unfortunate injury to Ryan Shazier, the Steelers are in need of a fast, sideline-to-sideline tackle-monster. Evans is that guy.
29. Jaguars — Dallas Goedert, TE, South Dakota State.
30. Vikings — Mike Hughes, CB, UCF.
31. Patriots — Marcus Davenport, OLB, Texas-San Antonio.
32. Eagles — Kolton Miller, OT, UCLA.
