Ruth E. Wallace, 93, of Ellwood City passed away Thursdaywhile under the care of Butler Memorial Hospital.

Episcopalian by faith, Ruth was a member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Cranberry Township and more recently a member of First Baptist Church in Ellwood City.

She worked for several years at Basilone's Formal Wear in Zelienople.

Ruth was known as a social butterfly and everyone affectionately called her “grandma” for her caring nature.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (George) McCarthy of Zelienople; her son, Gerald F. (Tina) Wallace Jr. of Ellwood City; four grandchildren, John (Tina) Wallace, Jennifer (fiancé Doug Bytheway) Wallace, Shelby (fiancé Dave Jacob) Wallace and Logan McCarthy; a great-granddaughter, Keegan Wallace; a brother, Robert (Margie) Steele; a sister, Florence Wroblewski; and numerous nieces andnephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald F. Wallace Sr.; her mother, Mary Steele; six siblings, Louis, Lawrence, Elmer, Richard and Warren Steele, and Lucille (Eddie) Mullenax; and a brother-in-law, Walter Wroblewski.

WALLACE — The family of Ruth E. Wallace, who died Thursday, March 15, 2018, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Boylan Funeral Home,324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Mondayat the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Cooper and the Rev. Dave McQuaid co-officiating.She will be laid to rest at Pinewood Memorial Gardens in Cranberry Township.If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Ruth's honor to the American Heart Association, 444 Liberty Ave., Suite 1300, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Ruth's family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
