James Jay Cannard

James Jay Cannard, 70, of Chicora died Thursday morning in Sugar Creek Rest in Worthington, following an illness.

Born on Nov. 23, 1947, in Danville, Pa., he was the son of the late James and June Cannard.

After graduating from Karns City High School in 1967, he proudly defended his country in Vietnam serving in the U.S. Navy from Dec. 15, 1967 to July 30, 1971, on the USS Shangri La.

Jay was a self-employed handyman. He was a life member of Butler Little Theatre and also worked with the Musical Theatre Guild and Karns City High School drama club.

He enjoyed reading, music and working with electronics. He particularly loved walking and taking care of his beloved dogs.

He is survived by a sister, Amy Cannard; and two brothers, Jon Cannard and Chris Cannard.

CANNARD — There will be no viewing, visitation or services at this time for James Jay Cannard, who died Thursday, March 15, 2018.A memorial service will take place later at the convenience of the family.Arrangements have been entrusted to Steighner Funeral Home, 111 E.
