John Paul Hudson

John Paul Hudson, 73, of Portersville passed away Saturday afternoon at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Born May 13, 1944, in New Castle, he was the son of George and Grace Kelso Hudson.

John was formerly married to Nancy Hudson and subsequently married Diane Hudson, who preceded him in death in 2016. He is survived by his longtime companion, Opal McClymonds.

After his graduation in 1962 from Union High School he attended Slippery Rock University for two years.

John was an insurance agent, formerly employed with Kemper Insurance and Baltimore Life Insurance companies.

A member of the Elks Club, he served as the exalted ruler and the district secretary. He was also involved with the Jaycees and the New Castle Airport Authority.

Among his many interests, John enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking, bowling and golf.

He was a former member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. More recently, he had attended Unity Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons, John G. Hudson and his wife, Cherie, and Matthew P. Hudson, all of New Castle; and four grandchildren, Evan Torsello, Clara Hudson, Johnny Hudson and Rory Hudson.

In addition to his parents and second wife, Diane, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Hudson.

HUDSON — There will be no calling hours for John Paul Hudson, who died Saturday, March 10, 2018.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Unity Baptist Church, 304 Old Route 19, New Castle, with the Rev. Zach Dudenhofer officiating.Burial will be in Castle View Cemetery.Arrangements were entrusted to Cunningham Funeral Home.Memorial contributions may be made to Unity Baptist Church.Online condolences may be offered at www.cunninghamfh.com.
