Sarah Schoeffel

A Butler woman was arrested Thursday evening after city police say they found her with suspected crack cocaine, Suboxone and a digital scale.

The drugs and contraband were enough for police to charge 38-year-old Sarah S. Schoeffel with felony and misdemeanor possession.

Schoeffel was placed in Butler County Prison on a bench warrant. She was immediately arraigned on the drug charges.

Police said a patrol officer in the area of West North and North Jackson at about 6:30 p.m. spotted Schoeffel involved in a suspected drug activity.

She initially gave police a bogus name, according to court documents, and an officer noticed something shoved down the front of her pants.

She removed the items, police said, which turned out to be two crack pipes.

Schoeffel eventually gave police her name, which revealed the warrant. Court records showed the warrant was issued March 29 after she failed to appear for a court hearing in a driving under the influence of drugs case.

Police said she eventually turned over six individually wrapped pieces of crack that were in a coat pocket. She also admitted having four Suboxone strips in her bra.

Schoeffel was taken to the county jail, documents said, where she removed the medication as well as additional suspected crack from the bra.

She does not have a prescription for Suboxone, a narcotic medication used to treat opiate addiction.

Schoeffel was arraigned Friday on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and false identification to law enforcement authorities.

She is in the county jail on $10,000 bail and the warrant.
