Woman hurt in crash at Moraine
WORTH TWP — A woman was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital with a head injury Tuesday afternoon after crashing her Jeep Cherokee into a tree in Moraine State Park, authorities said.
The woman crashed around 3:10 p.m. in the Lakeview Beach area. She was conscious and talking to emergency responders, but a medical helicopter was called as a precaution, Park Manager Dustin Drew said.
The one-vehicle accident happened in an area which closes to vehicles during the winter, Drew said.
The road will reopen sometime in May and visitors can still walk down to the pavilions, disc golf course and picnic areas, he said.
Drew said a park employee witnessed the crash and called 911. It is possible that she accessed the area via a service road, he said.
State police were investigating.
The Portersville Muddy Creek Township Fire Department and ambulance services responded to the scene.
