John G. “Jack” Turner Jr.

John G. “Jack” Turner Jr., 35, of Pittsburgh passed away Thursday at UPMC Mercy Hospital of cardiac arrest.

He was born Dec. 30, 1982, in Butler, the son of Cheryl (Fisher) Turner of Renfrew, and John G. and Karen Turner Sr. of Butler.

Jack was a 2001 graduate of Knoch High School.

He entered the U.S. Air Force in the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Program. He was deployed three times to Iraq, personally clearing more than 400 IEDs, saving hundreds of lives. Jack was awarded the Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and numerous commendation medals.

Along with his parents, he is survived by his sister, Katie Haug and her husband, Jarret, of Chicora; his nephew, Maverick Haug; his uncles, Robert Fisher, Buddy Turner, Tom Turner and their families, all of Butler; his best friend, Justin Conklin of Pittsburgh; and an extended group of great friends and a brotherhood of EOD Techs across the nation and abroad.

TURNER — Family and friends of John G. “Jack” Turner Jr., who died Thursday, March 8, 2018, will gather for the burial to be held at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
