Charles J. “Chuck” McCafferty Jr.

Charles J. “Chuck” McCafferty Jr., 89, of Buffalo Township passed away peacefully Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Chuck was born in Sarver on June 1, 1928. He was the son of the late Elizabeth (Falkner) and Charles J. McCafferty Sr. He was the widower of S. Irene (Hawdon) McCafferty, who died in 1998.

Chuck was a 1945 graduate of Freeport High School. He attended and graduated Grove City College with a B.S. in chemistry in 1949.

After graduation, he worked as an analytical chemist with PPG in Creighton and Harmarville for 47 years. He retired in 1996. While employed with PPG, he was drafted by the U.S. Army.

Chuck was a long time member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Brackenridge. He was a member and past president of Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy.

Chuck was the former secretary and treasurer of the Sarverville Cemetery.

Chuck enjoyed photography, gardening and spending time with his family.

Chuck is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Beth and Fran Grolemund of Buffalo Township, Diane and Shane Hudson of Friendswood, Texas, and Jayne and Joseph McGrath of Boyds, Md. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Megan and Mia Grolemund, Derek, Alexis and Lindsey Hudson and Sarah, Abreham and Markos McGrath.

McCAFFERTY — Family and friends of Charles J. “Chuck” McCafferty Jr., who died Friday, March 9, 2018, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport.Funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Brackenridge with the Rev. Dr. Frank Yesko officiating.Burial with military honors will be held in the Sarverville Cemetery in Sarver.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 989 Morgan St., Brackenridge, PA 15014.To send a condolence visit, www.redmondfuneralhomeinc.com.
