Butler police say that a car linked to a shooting incident last week on North Sixth Avenue has been impounded in Pittsburgh, and a Butler woman who claims she and her 2-year-old son were the targets of the shooting has been granted a temporary Protection from Abuse Order against her ex-boyfriend.

That shooting late Thursday night, investigators believe, involved an exchange of gunfire between two men. No one was injured.

No arrests have been made and police are still tight-lipped about their investigation.

Police on Monday issued a brief news release with few details.

“I don't want to jeopardize the integrity of the case,” Butler police Deputy Chief David Adam said Monday morning, when asked why police would not comment further on the investigation.

However, a Temporary Protection From Abuse order obtained Monday by Kirisa Taimuty of Butler might shed light on what occurred.

Taimuty, in her petition, says she and her 2-year-old son need protection from Raheem Robinson of East Carson Street, Pittsburgh, after Thursday's gunfire.

Taimuty, in court documents, writes that she and another woman witnessed the shooting Thursday, and claims that she and her son were the targets of shots fired by Robinson.

According to Taimuty, the incident involved Robinson and Mackenzie Peters.

Peters is the mother of Bentley Thomas Miller, who died last year after suffering injuries in what police say was a sexual assault. Peters was not charged in connection with Bentley's death, but pleaded guilty last month to two misdemeanor charges related to injuries police say the boy suffered before the assault that resulted in his death.

Taimuty, in her PFA application, calls Robinson her ex-boyfriend and claims he and Peters, who she refers to as Robinson's girlfriend, were present at the time of the shooting Thursday night, which occurred while Taimuty and a friend were walking home after a confrontation with Robinson.

“We had got into an argument about our unborn children,” Taimuty wrote in her PFA application. “He got upset I started walking back home himself and his girlfriend circled the block four times came down the street and fired six shots at my son and myself. I'm in fear for myself and my son's life since he (Robinson) has not yet been found.”

Taimuty, in court documents, says she separated from Robinson shortly before she found out that she was pregnant, and accuses him of being violent and a drug dealer. Taimuty claims this is the second time Robinson has threatened her with a gun, and the first time he shot at her.

A hearing on the temporary PFA, which was granted Monday morning, is set April 17.

The court documents are the first to shed light on an incident police have thus far declined to discuss in detail.

Neighbors reported hearing several shots, four or five, fired in the 300 block of North Sixth Avenue about 10:30 p.m. Thursday. They also heard a woman's screams.

Some neighbors looked outside and saw two or three women, one with a baby stroller, and an unknown man.

Others also saw a different unknown man get into a white car. The car backed up onto West Penn Street and fled.

That car was later tracked to Pittsburgh, where it was impounded, according to the police news release.

Adam would not say who owns the vehicle or who they believe was driving it Thursday night. It also was unknown if police have obtained a search warrant for the car.

Witnesses told police that “two males” exchanged gunfire that night, the news release said. But police did not say if those witnesses were the women that neighbors saw moments after the shooting.

Officers recovered “multiple shell casings at the scene,” the news release said. Adam would not discuss the caliber of the casings nor would he say if they were different, which would indicate two guns were fired that night.

When asked if arrests were imminent, Adam only said, “The case is under investigation.”
