Rock wins 9th straight

The Slippery Rock University baseball team ran its winning streak to nine games with 7-3 ad 8-7 wins over Pitt-Johnstown Sunday afternoon.

SRU ended the weekend with a 17-7 overall record and a 10-2 mark in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division, good enough for first place.

Slippery Rock hit five home runs in the doubleheader sweep Sunday.

Joe Campagna hit a pair of home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in five.

Campagna is the first SRU athlete to hit two grand slams in the same season since Matt Howard in 2011.

Tyler Walters, Christian Porterfield and Frankie Jezioro also connected for home runs Sunday. Porterfield now leads SRU with seven homers this season and Walters has six.
