George E. Bauer

George E. Bauer, 84, of Eustis, Fla., formerly of Prospect, passed away Feb. 21 at the VA Butler Healthcare.

He was born Jan. 24, 1934, in Butler, and was the son of the late Wallace W. Bauer and the late Ruth Hutchins Bauer.

George worked as a start up technician at Air Products in Creighton, Pa., retiring in 1990 after 25 years of service.

He was a member of the Lyndora American Legion Post 778, AM Vets in Tavares, Fla., and the Moose Lodge in Eustis, Fla.

George served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Velma Angerett Bauer, whom he married on Dec. 3, 1954; one daughter, Vicky (Michael) Mazzanti of West Sunbury; two grandchildren, Daphne (Chester III) Spohn of Herman and Ryan Mazzanti of Butler; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bonnie Thomas of Renfrew.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Bauer, and one sister, Bernadette Heard.

BAUER — Family and friends of George E. Bauer, who died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, are invited to a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lyndora American Legion Post 778, 150 Legion Memorial Lane, Butler.Full military honors will be accorded.Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
