A Cabot woman was sentenced to probation in Butler County Court Wednesday after being charged with endangering three children while overdosing on heroin.

Erin A. Lazor, 34, was sentenced to two years of county probation by President Judge Thomas Doerr. She was also ordered to pay court costs and a $250 fine, as well as continue with parenting classes and recommendations from a drug and alcohol assessment.

She previously pleaded guilty to misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person March 27.

Lazor was initially charged with three misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of children after an incident March 21, 2017, in the East Butler Volunteer Fire Company parking lot on Grant Avenue. The reckless endangerment charge to which she pleaded was later added.

State police said when troopers arrived, EMS crews were treating Lazor, and nearby her three children, ages 9, 8 and 6, were in a vehicle with a couple who stopped to help.

Police said the oldest child told troopers that his mother drove him and his siblings to the park near the fire station and, while playing, he saw a friend of his mother's drive up in a Jeep, according to court documents.

Lazor then got into the Jeep for several minutes before returning to her van. When her children joined her in the van to check on her and to warm up from the cold, the boy said his mother “started to act different and sleepy,” a police affidavit said. She subsequently lost consciousness.

One of Lazor's children flagged down a motorist, saying that their mother needed help. The couple in the passing car stopped and called 911.

Lazor was eventually taken to Butler Memorial Hospital, where police spoke to her. Police said she admitted using two stamp bags of heroin while caring for her children at the park.

She claimed it was her “first time using in almost four years,” a police affidavit said.

Lazor said during the proceeding that she has already completed the parenting classes as well as 35 hours of community service.
