VA Butler Healthcare is hosting a town hall meeting at the Cranberry Township-based VA Outpatient Clinic to provide new information and updates on the priorities and vision of the VA, current events at VA Butler Healthcare and to provide feedback on VA operations.

The meeting is at 5 p.m. April 18. VA staff will be on hand to listen to veterans and their families and answer questions.

The town hall is one in a series meetings the VA is hosting to provide local veterans an additional forum for dialogue with VA Butler staff, to provide feedback on local operations and to learn about the programs available to veterans served by VA Butler Healthcare.

[naviga:h3]Nelson 5K returns to Forward Twp.[/naviga:h3]

The third annual Patti J. Nelson 5K is returning to Forward Township, drawing crowds of runners as well as family and friends of the late Patti Nelson.

The 5K will begin at 9 a.m. April 21 at 400 Old Route 68.

The annual event began in 2016. Nelson was co-founder of the Nelson Charitable Foundation, which has supported non-profits and other organizations in and around Evans City for more than 20 years. Nelson died of cancer in 2015.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the Evans City Public Library.

After the race, attendees can participate in the post-race celebration featuring a lunch and a Chinese auction.

A $200,000 lottery ticket was sold Wednesday at the Shop ’n Save on Freedom Road in Cranberry Township.

The Cash 5 ticket matched all five balls drawn — 01-15-24-30-36.

The store will earn a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The ticket holder should sign the ticket and call the lottery at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at the nearest lottery office.

Cash 5 prizes expire one year from the drawing date.

EVANS CITY — One person has been taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry and was expected to be airlifted to Pittsburgh for further treatment after an accident at Pittsburgh Plug and Products Thursday afternoon.

Ambulances were dispatched to the business shortly before 1 p.m. for a reported forklift accident.

Emergency responders called for a medical helicopter, but the aircraft could not land in Evans City because of a mechanical issue.

No other details were immediately available.
