Three people involved in crash on Bonniebrook

Firefighters work to get help people out of a car involved in a crash on Bonniebrook.

SUMMIT TWP — One person has been taken via ambulance to an area hospital after a one-vehicle crash shortly after 11 a.m. on the 600 block of Bonniebrook Road, according to emergency responders.

State police say a backseat passenger in the vehicle, which appeared to be a Ford SUV, was injured Thursday morning. The driver told troopers that he was on Bonniebrook Road when he swerved to avoid a vehicle that was oncoming in his lane immediately before the crash. Police said the vehicle hit a guardrail and went over an embankment before hitting a tree.

Police said three people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. None of them were immediately identified.

One person in the vehicle refused treatment at the scene, according to emergency responders; a third was reportedly not injured.

The crash blocked Bonniebrook Road completely as emergency responders worked to remove the vehicle from the hillside.
