Janet Ehko McGowan, formerly of Charleroi, passed away peacefully Monday at Hallsworth House from a long battle with cancer.

Janet was born Aug. 13, 1930, in Charleroi, to Andrew and Ada Saccani Ehko.

Janet attended Charleroi Area Schools, graduating in the class of 1948.

Janet is survived by her sons, Dr. Mark D. Zimmerman and his wife, Diane, of Alabama, and Michael L. Beazell and his wife, Marti, of Charleroi. She is also survived by her brothers, Edward Ehko, Robert Ehko and his wife, Arlene; her sister, Olive Pulaski; and her sister-in-law, Gerri Ehko. Janet is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Kenneth D. Zimmerman; her former husband, Merlyn D. Zimmerman; her husband, Lester S. Beazell; and her husband, Willis A. McGowan.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Hallsworth House for the care Janet received in the last five years and Dr. Andrew Zahalsky and his staff at Mon-Valley Oncology for their continued care.

Per Janet's request, there will be no funeral services and she desired to be cremated and her ashes be scattered along with her late husband, Willis, at a special place for both of them.
