Doris Jeanette “Hugger” Snell

Doris Jeanette “Hugger” Snell, 87, of Hermitage passed away early Monday morning at Vitas at Brookdale in Jacksonville, Fla., following a brief illness.

Doris was born in Butler Sept. 1, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Aletha (Early) Boofer and William Boofer.

Doris was a homemaker and attended Grace Chapel Community Church in Hermitage.

She enjoyed gardening, coloring, word games, sewing, crazy quilting and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her daughters, Jane Vasconi and her husband, David, of Hermitage, Vickie Willingham and her husband, Mel, of Jacksonville, Fla.; her sons, James Geibel and his wife, Joann, of Butler, Jeffery Geibel and his wife, Arlene, of Jacksonville, Fla., Samuel Geibel and his wife, Cindy, of West Sunbury, and Marcus Geibel of Butler; her sister, Linda Claypoole of Slippery Rock; her 30 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Snell; a daughter, Hannah Hunter; two grandsons, Tony Snow and David Johnson; a granddaughter, Jenny McCune; a great-granddaughter, Belle Arney; three sisters, Jane Spiker, Peggy Bowser and Pearl Claypoole; and three brothers, Benjamin, John and Arthur Boofer.

SNELL — Visitation for Doris Jeanette “Hugger” Snell, who died Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the John Flynn Funeral Home and Crematory, 2630 E. State St., Hermitage.Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bryan Warner officiating.Arrangements were handled by John Flynn Funeral Home and Crematory.Friends may sign the guest book at www.flynnfuneralhome.com.
